Cooking Caveman with Jeff Nimoy

THESE ARE THE COOKING ADVENTURES OF JEFF NIMOY, AN LA WRITER WHO, WHILE DOING RESEARCH FOR A SCRIPT, STUMBLED UPON WHAT’S CALLED THE CAVEMAN DIET, ALSO KNOWN AS THE PALEO DIET. BASICALLY, IT’S EATING WHAT THE CAVEMEN ATE. HE TRIED IT OUT, AND THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN STAGGERING! THIS BLOG SHOWS EXACTLY HOW AND WHAT JEFF EATS. IF YOU’RE NEW TO THE BLOG, PLEASE START WITH THE “ENTERING THE CAVE” PAGE TO GET A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT.

psychejive asked: What are your thoughts on eating so fast that you maybe end up eating too much? I'm trying hard to get back on the paleo horse (I only have a microwave and crockpot in my barracks room), or as close to as it as I can get. I find that I'll make myself a plate and eat so quickly that I end up eating more than I maybe should.

Well, if you’re eating pure paleo, it’s really hard to do damage to your body, even if you eat more than you should.  But if you feel like you stuff yourself, like a kishka at a bar mitzvah, you should make a concerted effort to listen to your body, and stop when you’re full.  If that means slowing down, so be it, just get in tune with yourself.

This is a case where Intermittent Fasting may benefit you.  If you only eat one meal a day, go ahead and stuff yourself.  Then roll around on your back like a lion that just ate a zebra, and digest for 24 hours until your next meal.  One of the beautiful things about paleo is no calorie counting!  And it’s really hard to get fat on one meal a day, no matter how large.  Remember, we don’t need as much food to survive as we think we need.

Good luck!
