Cooking Caveman with Jeff Nimoy

THESE ARE THE COOKING ADVENTURES OF JEFF NIMOY, AN LA WRITER WHO, WHILE DOING RESEARCH FOR A SCRIPT, STUMBLED UPON WHAT’S CALLED THE CAVEMAN DIET, ALSO KNOWN AS THE PALEO DIET. BASICALLY, IT’S EATING WHAT THE CAVEMEN ATE. HE TRIED IT OUT, AND THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN STAGGERING! THIS BLOG SHOWS EXACTLY HOW AND WHAT JEFF EATS. IF YOU’RE NEW TO THE BLOG, PLEASE START WITH THE “ENTERING THE CAVE” PAGE TO GET A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT.

clicknchic asked: If I'm gonna cheat what's the least damaging cheat in your opinion? I sometimes go with some popcorn ( I know, I know). I'd like to have a go to that's not terrible but will satisfy that urge. Suggestions?

I guess rice does the least amount of damage.  Unlike wheat and other grains, which are anti-nutritional, it’s sort of more neutral in the havoc it causes in your GI tract.  But it’s still empty carbs, that turn to sugar in your system.  You know, for me, vinegar is a cheat, because I avoid things that are fermented, but a little vinegar now and then is fine.  And sea salt is also a cheat for me, but a little of that is fine too (especially if you’re an athlete, constantly losing salt in sweat).  I feel like if you’re craving something, have it, like I’m doing with some organic salad right now, craving it, because I’m cheating my way through NYC.
