Arrowroot
Just a word or two about this natural thickener. For some reason, Whole Foods only sells organic arrowroot in a little jar for like $7 bucks! But that’s WAY overpriced. I use a lot of arrowroot (a little goes a long way) in bread recipes, fried chicken, onion rings, and if I had to shell out more than $7 bucks every time I made bread, I would go broke.
There are health food stores that sell a pound or 20 ounce bags of organic arrowroot for between $5 and $15 dollars. A bag should last you about 6 months, depending on how many of these recipes you make. When this one particular health food store near me doesn’t carry it, I just google “organic arrowroot” and some great deals come up. Don’t worry if it’s called arrowroot powder, starch, or flour, it’s all the same, just make sure it’s organic! I just bought a bag from Amazon for about $4 dollars! It costs more to ship! The total with shipping is around $11 dollars, and that’s a great deal. Enjoy!
